The Best Red Meat Pot Roast I Have Ever Had

If you love a good red meat dinner then my pot roast is the perfect meal of choice. You can make it with deer, elk, bison or beef. It is one of those meals that you leave in the crock pot all day long which is really convenient when you are entertaining or trying to keep dinner simple. With just a few important ingredients this delicious pot roast comes to life.

Ingredients You Need

• 3 to 5 Pound Roast
• 1 Quart Beef Broth
• 2 Large Onions
• 4 Cloves Fresh Garlic
• 1 Teaspoon Pepper
• 1 Tablespoon Salt
• 4 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
• 1 Pound of Carrots

Preparing the Roast

To begin making the pot roast you want to pour the quart of beef broth into the bottom of your slow cooker. Then Crush the garlic and mix it into the beef broth. Add the salt and pepper and mix the beef broth with a fork.

Place the roast in the broth with the garlic and spices and pour the Worcestershire sauce over the top of the meat.

Peel and cut the carrots into 3 – 4 inch pieces and take the outer layer of the onions off and cut into quarters. Then place the carrots and onions around the meat in the slow cooker. Not all the onions and carrots will touch the broth and that is just fine as the boiling broth will steam them throughout the day.

If your slow cooker has an auto setting then that is the easiest one to use. However, if the slow cooker has a low, medium and high setting then put it at high for the first 4 hours and then low for the rest of the day. This will ensure the meat cooks thoroughly and then simmers the rest of the day so the meat becomes very tender and juicy.

When you are ready to serve the pot roast after many hours of cooking the meat should fall apart fully and the carrots will be perfectly soft. Break off pieces of the meat with a fork and knife and serve with the carrots and onions on the side.

For an additional side dish you can make a batch of mashed potatoes as they go great with the red meat and carrots. Enjoy your pot roast and remember to cook it all day or it will not be tender and juicy.
