Applesauce Bars

A wonderful type of bar to eat for breakfast with coffee are homemade applesauce bars. They are also perfect to eat for desert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. For those who cannot have chocolate these applesauce bars are a great alternative. Make up a batch today and give them a try.

Applesauce Bars
Recipe type: Bread, Dessert
 
Ingredients
  • 1 ½ Cups of Applesauce
  • ½ Cup of Softened Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • ¾ Cup of Raisins
  • 2 ½ Cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 ¾ Cups of Sugar
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons of Baking Soda
  • ½ Teaspoon of Salt
  • 2 Teaspoons of Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ Teaspoon of Ground Cloves
  • ¼ Teaspoon of Ground Allspice
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray
  • Topping: ½ Cup of Sugar & 1 Tablespoon of Ground Cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Crack your eggs into the mixing bowl and remove any shell pieces. Then add your softened butter, sugar and applesauce. Mix the ingredients together well with the electric beaters.
  2. Measure your flour into the sifter and sift it into the mixing bowl. Then add the baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. Mix with your electric beaters on low. Add the raisins to the batter and mix them in with you mixing spoon.
  3. Spray your baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and pour the batter into the pan. Place it in the oven to bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with a mixture of ½ cup sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Allow to cool before you cut and serve. Enjoy!
